To add a selected food to the selected meal, click
the "Add to Meal" button.
The food will then appear in the Meal Summary field
and be recorded to the
user's data record.
Added information is also recorded in a comma-delimited text file named "add2base.txt" that is created in the Diabetes Diary directory. This file can be used to share added foods with other users, as well as import your added foods to future upgraded versions of the product. Therefore, we strongly suggest not deleting this file.
Importing Foods from a Comma-Delimited
Text File
Foods previously added to
Diabetes Diary are stored in the "add2Base.txt" file. When upgrading to
a newer version of Diabetes Diary, you will likely want to include the
foods that you've added. You may also wish to add foods entered by another
Diabetes Diary user,, or create a data file of foods and values using a
spreadsheet or word-processor to then be imported into Diabetes Diary.
To import a comma-deliimted food file, such as the "add2base.txt" file,
choose the "Import Foods (comma-delimited file)" from the Help menu. Choose
the appropriate file in the dialog box, then click "OK". The data will
be added to the appropriate categories as listed in the data file.
Data files must be comma-delimited
text files in the format:
Category, Food name, serving
size, serving unit, weight (g), calories, fat from calories, total fat
(g), saturated fat (g), cholesterol (mg), sodium (mg), carbohydrates (g),
fiber (g), protein (g), Vitamin A (% daily recommended allowance), Vitamin
C (%), Calcium (%), Iron (%)
All fields are required
except weight, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Calcium, and Iron.
